The Forklift Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently moving, loading, unloading, staging, and organizing building materials throughout the warehouse and yard. This role supports customer deliveries, inbound receiving, customer pickups, inventory accuracy, and overall warehouse operations while ensuring materials are handled safely and accurately.
The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, highly organized, and experienced working with forklifts and building materials in a fast-paced warehouse or distribution environment.
Forklift and Material Handling Operations- Safely operate forklifts and other approved material-handling equipment
- Load, unload, move, stack, and stage building materials throughout warehouse, yard, receiving, and loading areas
- Transport materials between storage locations, staging areas, customer pickup areas, and delivery loading zones
- Handle building materials carefully to prevent product damage and maintain inventory integrity
- Inspect loads and materials for visible damage, shortages, or discrepancies and report concerns promptly
- Follow established forklift operating procedures and company safety requirements
- Pull, stage, and prepare customer orders for scheduled deliveries
- Load building materials onto trucks safely and efficiently according to delivery requirements
- Verify products, quantities, and order information before loading
- Coordinate with Dispatch, Drivers, and Warehouse personnel to ensure loads are complete and prepared on schedule
- Assist with organizing materials based on delivery sequence and loading requirements
- Support second-run or priority delivery preparation as operational needs require
- Unload incoming vendor shipments and transfer materials to appropriate staging or storage locations
- Assist with verifying incoming materials against receiving documentation
- Inspect inbound products for damage or obvious discrepancies
- Unload and stage materials associated with customer or branch pickups
- Assist customers, Drivers, and team members with safe loading and unloading of materials
- Maintain organized receiving and customer pickup areas to support efficient material flow
- Assist with weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual, and other scheduled inventory counts or audits
- Support accurate inventory organization and product placement
- Verify quantities when moving, staging, loading, or receiving materials
- Report inventory discrepancies, damaged products, or improperly stored materials
- Assist with relocating inventory to improve warehouse organization and operational efficiency
- Maintain familiarity with product locations throughout assigned warehouse and yard areas
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe warehouse, yard, loading, and staging areas
- Keep aisles, forklift travel paths, loading zones, and work areas free of obstructions
- Assist with routine warehouse cleaning and housekeeping throughout the shift
- Organize materials and storage locations to support safe and efficient operations
- Report facility, equipment, or housekeeping concerns that could create safety or operational issues
- Perform required pre-operation inspections of forklifts before use
- Report damaged equipment, maintenance needs, or unsafe operating conditions promptly
- Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and PPE standards
- Operate equipment at safe speeds and remain aware of pedestrians, vehicles, and other equipment
- Use proper material-handling techniques when working with large, heavy, or awkward building products
- Participate in required forklift, safety, and operational training
- Perform additional duties as assigned

- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous forklift or material-handling experience
