OverviewOur MEC technician has a key role in our Mobile Hydraulic Business Unit. You will be responsible for the assembly and testing of hydraulic systems including valves, pumps, motors, manifolds, and other products sold by Sun Source.
Responsibilities- Verify parts to BOM and work order to prepare for assembly
- Inspect parts and various components.
- Assemble units according to MEC specifications. Follow best practices for assembling hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, manifold, proportional, cartridges, pumps, and engine cooling units.
- Adjust components and equipment in Test room. Set cartridges in the test room per blueprint instructions.
- Test all assembled systems for standard expectations of quality, quantity, and time.
- Paint completed units in the paint booth.
- Clean, organize, and maintain the Shop and shop equipment.
- Participate in continuous improvement through training and associate development.
- Assist MEC Technicians with assembly, testing, process training and mentoring.
- Maintain a safe and orderly work area.
- Any other duties as assigned within Sun Source.
- Education—2‑year fluid power associate degree, mechatronics or other mechanical disciplines strongly preferred. High school diploma or equivalent. Working knowledge of fluid power preferred.
- Experience—1 to 5 years in fluid power assembly or shop experience. Testing and troubleshooting experience preferred. Ability to work with engineering and other MEC Technicians to meet expectations of the customer for quantity and timing. Detail oriented, to provide the highest level of quality to the customer.
- Physical Requirements—Must be able to lift to 75 lbs. Position stands 95‑100% of the workday.
- Meet or exceed Mecoh standards on assembling units and final hydraulic testing.
- Contribute to the MEC team metrics of 110 labor hours closed out per day.
- Technician has shown ability to build products in each work cell proficiently.
- Quality: meets customers and shop performance with 0 warranty claims.
- Housekeeping: keep the work area clean and organized.
- Safety: observe all safety guidelines, wear PPE daily.
- Technician keeps up to date with IFPS certifications.
- Technician has completed Sun Source Mobile Hydraulic Mechanic certification.
- Course, if not currently certified from an accredited college or university.
- Attention to Detail: thoroughness in accomplishing a task through concern for all the areas involved, no matter how small. Monitors and checks work or information and plans and organizes time and resources efficiently.
