Position: FIXED ASSET&CAPEX ACCOUNTING ANALYST

Fixed Asset & Capex Analyst

The Fixed Asset & Capex Analyst is responsible for the accounting, reporting, analysis, control, and compliance of all company capital assets and capital spending activities. This role manages the fixed asset lifecycle, construction-in-progress projects, capitalization policies, depreciation accounting, physical asset inventories, and related financial reporting requirements while partnering with operational leadership to ensure accurate accounting and strong internal controls.

Essential duties and major responsibilities include:

1. Reviews and monitors all capital expenditure requests to ensure expenditure aligns with approved capital budgets and company investment strategies.

2. Partners with department leaders to evaluate potential capitalization of projects, equipment purchases, software implementations, facility improvements, and leasehold improvements.

3. Tracks project spending against approved budgets and reports variances to management on a timely basis.

4. Ensures timely closure of completed capital projects and proper transfer from Construction-in-Progress (CIP) accounts to depreciable asset categories.

5. Develops and maintains fixed asset policies, procedures, and capitalization guidelines in accordance with GAAP and Company standards.

6. Performs periodic reviews of useful lives, salvage values, and depreciation methods to ensure accuracy and consistency of accounting treatment.

7. Coordinates asset tagging and asset identification processes to maintain accurate asset records throughout the organization.

8. Reviews purchase requisitions, purchase orders, vendor invoices, and contracts for proper fixed asset classification and capitalization treatment.

9. Monitors capital spending trends and prepares management reports identifying significant investments and project performance metrics.

10. Supports facility expansions, relocations, remodels, equipment installations, and technology implementations from an accounting and reporting perspective.

11. Evaluates abandoned, obsolete, damaged, or underutilized assets and recommends appropriate accounting treatment.

12. Calculates gain or loss on asset disposals and ensures proper removal from accounting records.

13. Assists with annual insurance renewal processes by providing fixed asset schedules, equipment listings, and replacement cost information.

14. Coordinates with Information Technology personnel regarding capitalization and depreciation of internally developed software and technology-related investments.

15. Maintains detailed records supporting all asset acquisitions, adjustments, transfers, retirements, and disposals.

16. Participates in annual budgeting and strategic planning meetings related to future capital investments and infrastructure needs.

17. Creates and maintains depreciation forecasting models to support long-range financial planning initiatives.

18. Collaborates with Internal Audit and external auditors to support testing of internal controls over fixed assets and capital expenditures.

19. Identifies opportunities to automate fixed asset accounting processes and improve reporting efficiency utilizing available technology solutions.

20. Develops and tracks key performance indicators (KPIs) related to capital spending, asset utilization, asset turnover, and capital project performance.

21. Prepares executive-level reporting packages summarizing capital expenditures, project status, depreciation trends, and major asset activity.

22. Provides training and guidance to operational and departmental personnel regarding accounting requirements for capital expenditures and asset management.

23. Assists in ERP implementations, system upgrades, and process changes impacting fixed asset accounting and capital project management.

Qualifications and special skills required include:

* A bachelor's degree in accounting is required and a minimum of 3 years of work experience in public/private accounting is preferred.

* Excellent knowledge in accounting and financial matters.

* Proficiency in fixed asset and capex accounting.

* Knowledgeable in GAAP policies and procedures.

* Experience with ERP systems.

* Solid understanding of accounting statements: balance sheet and income statement.

* Excellent analytical skills.

* A positive attitude, team player and process improvement-oriented mindset.

* Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

* Maintain proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics NAV.

* Maintain proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

* Must have a valid driver's license and the ability to be insured under the company's vehicles insurance policy.
