Position DetailsThis position utilizes a training program designed to equip employees with the resources and experience needed to successfully execute a broad range of professional accounting services within federal regulations and automated systems. The incumbent's qualifications affect program requirements and duration. Qualifications may range from entry level experience to 5+ years experience. Performance based promotions are used to recognize the incumbent’s progression through the training program.
The position performs professional accounting services across a range of areas including:
- Fund and managerial accounting across multiple federal and non‑federal appropriations
- Drafting annual financial statements
- Working capital fund accounting and analysis
- Real and personal property accounting
- Internal control development, evaluation, and execution
- Payroll process management
- Automated financial system administration
The Corps of Engineers Savannah District is a primarily civilian workforce dedicated to serving the nation in many rewarding programs including ecosystem restoration, construction and maintenance of federal navigation channels, supporting FEMA during emergency operations, construction and maintenance of military facilities, beach re‑nourishment, and the operation and maintenance of reservoirs for the purpose of flood risk management, hydropower production, water storage and recreation.

Serving as an accountant for the Corps of Engineers Savannah District is a particularly rewarding experience as it combines applying accounting theory to complex situations with accomplishing meaningful projects for the Nation as part of a cross‑functional team. We serve our Nation alongside Engineers, Scientists and other professionals to apply cross‑functional expertise to overcome some of the Nation’s toughest infrastructure challenges.

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD, Section 9905 to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Degree:
Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in accounting; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law.

Education and Experience:
Must include at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college‑level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge.
