Examples of DutiesUnder general supervision, you will:
- Perform various technical, clerical, and routine administrative work.
- Prepare correspondence, reports, lists, and other documents accurately and reliably.
- Interpret and apply departmental rules, policies, and regulations per prescribed procedures and guidelines.
- Use your customer service and communication skills on the phone and as you receive and greet visitors to the Department.
- Perform work that requires initiative, independent judgment, and discretion.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED, and
- At least two (2) years of experience in a general clerical or administrative assistant role; or
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
- Must be able to type a minimum of 25 words per minute. Keyboarding and clerical testing will be required during the interview process for selected candidates.
During emergencies and disasters affecting Chatham County, you may be required to report to work as part of a disaster operations team.
In accordance with the Department of Transportation, Commercial Driver's License (CDL) holders and those employed in safety-sensitive positions are subject to random drug testing.
Candidates with direct and relevant experience may receive an offer of up to 10% above the minimum salary that is posted, reflecting their exceptional qualifications.
