Job Responsibilities
- Provide clerical and administrative assistance supporting funeral operations.
- Meet the general public, answer questions, provide information on funeral and cremation topics, and assist in funeral, memorial, or other services as requested by clients and management.
- Attend monthly staff meetings and perform duties in accordance with company mission, values, policies, and procedures.
- Prepare for services by delivering and setting up floral arrangements, chairs, caskets, urns, photos, and other personal keepsakes or mementos; ensure proper care and storage of these items.
- Prepare documents related to services, cremations, and maintenance as directed by management.
- Assist with respectful preparation of remains of deceased, including dressing and lifting deceased and operating the crematory as permitted by law and company regulations.
- Perform office duties such as answering phones and operating the fax machine, computer, multiline phone system, debit card machine, typewriter, postage meter, scale, and stereo/video system.
- Run errands, including floral delivery and picking up supplies, documents, and other items.
- Serve as an usher and may park cars or perform transportation requirements, including driving funeral home vehicles for services and picking up families.
- Ensure refreshments are available where allowed by law.
- Assist with visitations, memorial, and funeral services, including visitation and chapel set up, dressing and casketing remains, and delivering family items and flowers.
- Greet and receive client families and other persons entering the office for information and assistance.
- Accommodate the needs of the family during a service and/or visitation.
- Wash and clean funeral home vehicles and other client vehicles as required from time to time.
- Education:
High school diploma or equivalent. - Experience:
Previous customer service and/or sales experience preferred. - Proficient with the MS Office suite and databases preferred; ability and willingness to learn required.
- Certification/Licenses:
Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required.
- High level of compassion and integrity.
- Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
- Professional behaviors and team‑player attitude.
