As the Sal Son Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for promoting and selling our Drayage & Truckload transportation services to businesses throughout your assigned region. You must understand Logistics operations, container tracking, chassis, per-diem/demurrage, regional and appropriate over-the-road trucking operations to ensure the total satisfaction of customer requirements and the absolute assurance of stated levels of service to core customers.

You’ll be responsible for account development, visitation, and problem-solving as necessary to achieve and exceed the articulated expectations of customers.

Responsibilities
  • Prospect and identify potential clients through market research, networking, and cold calling.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients to ensure customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Conduct sales presentations and product demonstrations to potential clients, highlighting the company’s truckload transportation services and value proposition.
  • Understand client’s specific logistics needs and develop customized solutions to meet their requirements.
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing terms with clients, ensuring profitability for the company.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including operations, customer service, and finance, to ensure seamless execution of logistics services and timely resolution of any issues.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities to identify new business opportunities and stay ahead in the market.
  • Prepare and submit accurate sales reports, forecasts, and other relevant documentation to management.
  • As requested by the VP of Sales and Marketing, accomplish all special assignments and projects efficiently and effectively. Coordinate with appropriate direct reporting officials, as applicable, for the utilization of available physical and human resources to accomplish the project at hand.
  • Travels as required to fulfill the requirements of the responsibility, such as Trade Shows, Industry Events, etc.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor s degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of recent truckload transportation sales experience
  • 5+ years of experience with Salesforce
  • Strong knowledge of transportation planning, freight, and supply chain processes
  • Familiarity with EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) systems is a plus
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet sales targets
