Senior Specialist Procurement for Systems and Composites in GAC Savannah Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business administration, or a related field is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job. A Master's degree is preferred. Minimum of 5 years of procurement, supply‑chain, or related technical experience is required.
Position PurposeThe Senior Specialist Procurement will develop, plan, and lead complex procurement projects, including negotiations for contract awards and resolution of issues involving high‑value aerospace components, systems, and services. The role coordinates cross‑functional teams, manages supplier relationships, and ensures compliance with industry standards and program requirements. The specialist also oversees procurement planning, execution, and performance monitoring to support strategic business objectives.
Job DescriptionPrincipal Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Functions
- Facilitate all procurement activity within the assigned area of responsibility to provide strategic sourcing leverage and support Gulfstream internal customers.
- Request, review, and evaluate proposals; conduct bid evaluations; negotiate prices, schedules, and terms within management guidelines; prepare and administer purchase orders and/or long‑term agreements such as Master Orders and Blanket Purchase Agreements; and monitor supplier performance.
- Prepare an annual supplier‑performance master plan, including objectives and priorities for material management, quality, reliability, and product support, as well as calendar and format for program reviews.
- Manage supplier performance against the master plan by identifying problems, determining causes, taking corrective action, and coordinating involvement of Gulfstream management as appropriate.
- Serve as the principal point of contact with supported departments for strategic commodities.
- Lead and mentor team members to accomplish tasks within the assigned commodity area and supply‑chain functions.
- Interpret program and/or statement of work requirements; recommend and implement actions with suppliers and the Purchasing/Materials Manager to ensure all requirements are met.
- Coordinate negotiations to achieve cost reductions, maximize savings, and secure pricing within the objectives of the approved negotiation plan.
- Ensure all requirements are properly reflected in purchasing documents.
- Coordinate administration of and response to all contractual documentation.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Program Management, and Operations to align procurement with program goals.
- Maintain compliance with AS9100, ITAR, FAR/DFARS, and internal policies.
- Plan, coordinate, and review work of procurement personnel within commodity groups or areas, as assigned by the department manager.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement function.

- Learn and apply Lean concepts within functional responsibilities.
- Demonstrated experience in negotiating and managing high‑value, multi‑year, and technically complex procurements.
- Proficiency in SAP or an equivalent ERP system is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of procurement regulations, contract law, and industry best practices.
