Youth Care Worker - Inspire Georgia

Reports To:

House Manager - Inspire Georgia Summary of the Job

A Youth Care Worker is responsible for the daily guidance and supervision of youth in the Inspire Georgia Program. The Youth Care Worker ensures the safety of all youth and staff on shift. The Youth Care Worker should be committed to Sanctuary practice utilizing tools that reinforce our shared language to create a trauma-responsive culture.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Maintain supervision of youth at all times.
  • Provide a safe, caring, and nurturing environment for youth in the program.
  • Daily documentation and documentation of appointments and crisis interventions per program procedures.
  • Lead the youth in establishing ways of living together and managing their daily productive lives per individual service plan.
  • Teach youth hygiene, good health habits, safety habits, money management and other life skills per program plan.
  • Teach socially acceptable behaviors to youth.
  • Respond appropriately to crisis situations using Emergency Safety Interventions including the use of de-escalating techniques and performing physical control positions when necessary.
  • Utilize personal safety plan for managing emotions and interactions with staff and clients.
  • Provide appropriate behavior management techniques according to agency guidelines.
  • Engage youth in activities and assist in facilitating community groups.
  • Transport clients or assist as back up fly out support as assigned.
  • Participate in training as required.
  • Additional Responsibilities
  • Participate in weekly team meetings.
  • Administer medication as directed by physician and/or nurse.
  • Plan daily devotion time and attend church or other religious education opportunities with clients.
  • Participate in staff meetings, intakes, conferences, treatment team meetings and other meetings as assigned.
  • Maintain cottage/program facility to meet all licensing/accreditation, regulatory, and agency guidelines including minor maintenance, cleanliness and upkeep of grounds and buildings.
  • Participate in agency PQI program for assigned program.
  • Represent agency favorably at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Requirements Qualifications
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • A high school diploma or High School/GED;
    Two years of direct service experience with children and families preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
  • Have the physical ability, energy, flexibility, and maturity to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job to include performance of Emergency Safety Interventions including physical control positions.
  • Ability to establish positive relationships with clients and others.
  • Ability to follow structured routines.
  • Develop and utilize appropriate childcare skills.
  • Able to show proof of required vaccinations/immunizations.
  • Ongoing Qualifications
  • Agree to abide by all the policies, rules, guidelines and regulations of the Georgia Baptist Children's Homes and Family Ministries, Inc.
  • Exhibit tactfulness and good judgment in dealing with people.
  • Familiar with traditional Baptist tenets, customs and practices and shall maintain a compatible lifestyle.
  • Meet all employee guidelines and qualifications as outlined by GBCH & FM, license, contracts, and accreditation.

  • Utilize the Sanctuary Model of Care and conduct job responsibilities in a trauma-responsive manner.
  • Have the ability to work in partnership with other members in a team approach.
  • Arrive to work on time and as scheduled.
  • Achieve and accomplish annual goals assigned by supervisor or provide acceptable documentation as to why goals were not met.
  • Understanding of confidential issues and protected information assigned under HIPAA.
  • Complete required staff development hours within the program including 24 hours in childcare related training, current CPR, 1st Aid and approved emergency safety intervention training.
  • Annual physical.
  • Favorable MVR and fingerprint results.
  • Maintain valid State Driver’s License as required.
  • Maintain the physical ability to operate agency vehicles and to carry out essential job duties to include performance of Emergency Safety Interventions including physical control positions.
