Remote StatusOn‑Site
Position SummaryInspect and monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, contract requirements, and quality standards. The role includes field inspections, documentation, materials testing, quantity tracking, and coordination with project teams.

- Observe and document daily construction activities
- Inspect roadway, bridge, drainage, and utility work
- Verify compliance with plans, specifications, and safety requirements
- Sample and test construction materials
- Measure quantities and maintain project records
- Review contractor submittals and report non‑compliance issues
- Complete daily reports and project documentation
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering preferred
- GDOT and/or SCDOT inspection experience preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Strong math, communication, and problem‑solving skills
- Valid driver's license and ability to work in field environments
- Inspector I
- 0–3 years of construction inspection experience
- Ability to obtain required certifications within six months
- Inspector II
- 3+ years of transportation construction inspection experience
- Current DOT certifications preferred
- Experience with roadway, bridge, asphalt, concrete, drainage, or earthwork inspection
Georgia: ART, EDBT, Concrete Technician I & II, Work Zone Traffic Control, ACI Field Testing Technician
South Carolina: Concrete Technician, Asphalt Roadway Technician, Earthwork & Base Technician, Foundations Certification, Nuclear Gauge Safety Certification
Safety RequirementCompletion of OSHA 10 certification is required for all field‑work positions. New hires without current certification must complete the training within two weeks of hire. ICE will provide the training and cover associated costs.
Physical DemandsThe role involves moderate physical activity such as walking, standing, bending, and climbing stairs or ladders. Employees may occasionally lift objects weighing up to 80 pounds. The position requires visual discrimination of colors and details, as well as clear verbal and written communication skills. Adaptability to interruptions and changes in workflow, and the ability to work in varied environmental conditions, including hot, cold, noisy settings, and outside work are essential.
ExpectedHours of Work
The ICE offices are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The work schedule will vary according to project demands; night work and weekend work may be required.
