• Prepares detailed estimates by completing takeoff, using past cost history, and conferring with field personnel.
• Maintains files of working documents as a backup for estimate figures, including current accurate information on prices from suppliers through direct contact, sales brochures, price lists, etc.
• Prepares detailed reports, information packets and communicates all aspects of the bid to field personnel on awarded bids.
• May review design options and recommend the best solution based on cost, engineering quality or availability of materials.
• Properly follows all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and the environment; reports any problems to the Estimating Manager, Safety Manager, or Human Resources Manager.
• Receives minimum supervision when estimating items in own discipline.
• Independently estimates a large‑sized project.
• Ensures a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
• Maintains regular and timely attendance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

• 5+ years of construction estimating experience.
• Engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or experience.

• Experience with estimating software.
• Demonstrated proficiency with estimating and bidding software.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and contracts.
• Leadership, problem‑solving, decision‑making, and organization skills.
• Professional ethics, tact, and courtesy in dealing with management, team members, vendors, and internal and external customers.

• Ability to travel as needed.
