EXECUTIVE PRODUCER (MORNING) – WTOC
Job Summary: WTOC is seeking an executive producer to lead the morning show crew to success daily for the weekday morning show (4:30 am–7:00 am) and weekend morning shows. The role oversees production, content, staffing and coordination with digital platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Work with show producers, directors, anchors, field crews, and digital producers to showcase live shots and digital collaboration.
- Plan effectively to provide impactful content and elevate production values.
- Write and teach staff to write in a captivating, relevant, and authentic manner.
- Fill in for the producer when necessary to ensure newscast success.
- Script approval under tight deadlines across all WTOC platforms.
- Stay current on local and national news events.
- Assist with hiring of employees.
- Manage schedule and timecards of morning shift employees.
- Assist management team with planning future projects, elections, and special events.
Qualifications:
- 2–3 years producing experience.
- BS/BA in Journalism/Communications or equivalent background/industry experience.
- Flexibility with respect to scheduling and/or assigned work shifts.
- Lead and inspire news teams for a great newcast.
- Aggressively react/respond to breaking news.
- Good news judgment and journalistic integrity.
- Ability to handle legal concerns regarding newscast content.
- Teach staff to develop content through social media and independent sources.
- Experience working closely with digital team to create content across all platforms.
- Strong multitasking and attention to detail with solid people/management skills.
- Creative, great writer, able to think beyond daily news.
