As a tour guide, you will:
- Conduct guided tours of the Ralph Mark Gilbert Civil Rights Museum.
- Use dialogue and inquiry while encouraging guests to explore the museum's exhibits.
- Advance the museum's educational mission by developing and providing educational programs for the public.
- Utilize communication and customer service skills while sharing your enthusiasm and willingness to learn.
- Complete an introductory museum training course and study selected readings about Savannah's civil rights movement.
- Be available to work weekends.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED, and
- At least six (6) months of customer service experience; or
- Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Preferred qualifications:
- Some education in history or political science.
- Prior experience teaching and/or giving tours.
During emergencies and disasters affecting Chatham County, you may be required to report to work as part of a disaster operations team.
In accordance with the Department of Transportation, commercial driver's license (CDL) holders and those employed in safety-sensitive positions are subject to random drug testing.
Candidates with direct and relevant experience may receive an offer of up to 10% above the minimum salary that is posted, reflecting their exceptional qualifications.
