All Coastal Health District County Health Department employees are deemed essential employees in the event of an emergency. As such, you may be called on to participate in an event not limited to but including, staffing a shelter, a Specimen Point of Collection Site (SPOC) and/or Point of Dispensing site (POD). When you are called on to participate, you are expected and it will be a part of your job requirement to participate, whether the emergency occurs during or outside regular work hours.

Effective date for full time position in 7/1/26. Part-time hours available through 6/30/26.

Job Description

Supervises, guides and instructs the work assignment of staff. Diagnosis, treats, prevents, and controls disorders of the mouth and teeth including gums and related oral structures. May treat disease of nerve, pulp and other dental issues affecting vitality of teeth. Eliminate access barriers for school-aged children in urban and under-served rural areas. Responsible for developing, strengthening and/or sustaining partnerships with school systems and other community partners around the promotion of oral health.

This position is responsible for Dental Program in Savannah and Brunswick. Position is based in Savannah and will require to travel to Brunswick as needed.

  • Plan, organize, direct, coordinate, and evaluate the delivery of oral health services for school-aged children in the district.
  • Assure that school-based dental services are adequate, appropriate, and accessible; develop long and short-term goals for the health agency and participate in the agency's strategic and operational planning.
  • Maintain awareness of advances in dental medicine, computerized diagnostic and treatment equipment, Government regulations, health insurance charges, billing process and financing options.
  • Manage and direct administrative activities for health care employee.
  • Participate in the development and administration of program budgets.
  • Advise and instruct patients regarding preventive dental care the causes and treatment of dental problems, and oral health care services.
  • Diagnose and treat diseases, injuries, and malformations of teeth, gums and related oral structures, and provide preventive and corrective services.
  • Examine teeth, gums, and related tissues, using dental instruments, x-rays, and other diagnostic equipment to evaluate dental health, diagnose diseases or abnormalities, and plan appropriate
  • Doctorate or professional degree in dentistry from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of experience at the lower level Dentist 3 (HCP
    132) or position equivalent and current Georgia license to practice dentistry.
