Job Summary

Middle Georgia State University seeks an experienced Health Science professional and educator to serve as faculty in the Department of Respiratory Therapy and Health Science. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, advising students, guiding internships, engaging in scholarly activities, and serving on departmental and university committees. The role emphasizes curriculum development, pedagogy integration, and community engagement.

Responsibilities Teaching (60%)
  • Instruct assigned didactic courses and internships.
  • Maintain regular office hours for student support.
  • Prepare course syllabi, outlines, daily lesson plans, and related materials.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance course quality, including curriculum review.
  • Maintain enrollment records and student grades.
  • Design creative health‑science learning experiences.
Service (20%)
  • Support university and community outreach and promote student engagement.
  • Advise and lead student organizations and related activities.
  • Engage with professional associations and discipline projects.
  • Assist new and continuing students with course advisement and recruit activities.
Scholarship (20%)
  • Maintain expertise in the chosen field with ongoing professional development.
  • Use modern teaching technologies, including multimedia and distance learning.
  • Pursue scholarship of teaching and research relevant to the discipline.
Student Success & Other Duties
  • Contribute to departmental, school, and university work.
  • Assist with outreach activities as directed by the Chair.
  • Attend required committee meetings, workshops, and events.
  • Maintain a positive attitude toward work, students, colleagues, and administration.
  • Set annual professional growth objectives with the Chair.
  • Support accreditation efforts and prepare university documents such as catalog, handbook, and brochures.
  • Adhere to the Faculty Handbook of MGA.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of a master’s degree from a regionally or nationally accredited agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education; preference for Master of Science in Health Science, Public Health, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of two years of teaching experience in the discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in Health Science, Public Health, or related discipline from a regionally accredited agency.
  • Experience in teaching and scholarly research activities.
