The Education and Workforce Program Coordinator works with the Director by coordinating, overseeing, and implementing the designed Education and Workforce program. Supervises and monitors the day-to-day activities of the Education and Workforce Development Center programming and ensures that operations run smoothly and in compliance with established procedures. Promotes awareness and support for the workforce development program, attends community meetings and performs public speaking and represents The Salvation Army in a positive and professional manner.

In coordination with the Director, implements and enforces program policies and procedures; prepares and updates procedure manual. Plans, coordinates, and/or facilitates classes to assist clients in obtaining skills that will enable them to implement the training received in the program. Interviews, accepts, and provides comprehensive, long-term, structured, complex, case management services for an assigned caseload of clients participating in the Education and Workforce program.

Understands the uniqueness of the client’s history in order to determine most effective program plans.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervises and monitors the day-to-day activities of the Education and Workforce Development Center programming and ensures that operations run smoothly and in compliance with established procedures.
  • Plans and meets with individuals, companies, clubs, and/or organizations, etc. to effectively articulate The Salvation Army mission and the Education and Workforce Development program for the purpose of recruiting volunteer teachers; develop relationships to ensure consistent volunteer teacher placements; expresses course goals and provides examples of how training benefits the community.
  • Supervises, assigns, instructs, and monitors the work of employees, volunteers, and trainers responsible for teaching courses; advises, instructs, and trains volunteer teachers in the proper Salvation Army protocol, mission, and policies; ensures that class schedules are documented, and statistics are maintained for reporting purposes.
  • Interviews applicants to determine eligibility for program enrollment based on established facility guidelines and requirements; conduct needs assessment, obtain pertinent information; refer applicants to other agencies if not appropriate for program.
  • Establishes unique comprehensive program goals (three months or more) for eligible clients based on personal program assessment. explains goals to clients in a manner that is easily understood; consistently counsels client on ways to improve goals in the program.
  • Maintains awareness of the program requirements necessary to maintain existing funding; ensures that measurable outcomes correspond with requirements and adjusts case management processes as necessary.
Physical Requirements and

Working Conditions:

Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to travel throughout the community on a frequent basis to meet with current or prospective volunteers and center participants. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5
-10% of work time. Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking. Work is performed in a normal office environment where there is little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOU

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Program Management, Social Services, or a related field,
    AND
  • Two years’ experience planning, implementing, and managing program activities,
    OR
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
