Position: (SY 25/26 and SY 26/27) Montessori Specialized Instruction Teacher
Coastal Empire Montessori Charter School Specialized Instruction Teacher The Specialized Instruction Teacher, in partnership with the Lead Classroom Teacher and under the supervision of the Academic Principal and the Executive Director, is expected to establish and maintain high-quality Montessori/Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE)-aligned support for students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The roles and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Roles and Responsibilities Instructional Strategies
* Support and implement the school's Montessori/GSE-aligned curriculum and program;
* Support and collaborate with General Education Lead Teachers to conduct assessments of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities, prepare lessons, and utilize materials that reflect accommodations for differences in same;
* Actively participate in the school's collaborative planning protocol;
* Record descriptive, specific, written observations on all students with an IEP;
* Work with other members of the staff as appropriate to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to CEMCO requirements;
* Work cooperatively with other support staff (e.g., Speech Language Pathologist, Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, etc.) as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEPs); and
* Use technology to strengthen the communication process and teaching / learning / assessment, following steps that enhance the Montessori environment. Student Growth and Development
* Guide and support students in developing academic, moral, emotional, and social strengths by observing, documenting and analyzing their progress;
* Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing, observation, and systematic record-keeping;
* Share and explain Parent Rights to parents at all IEP meetings and at the request of a parent/guardian;
* Schedule and lead IEP meetings, recording detailed minutes of the meeting;
* Use a variety of sources (e.g., area of disability, current skill level, grade-level standards, etc.) to determine appropriate goals for a student's IEP;
* Compete timely progress monitoring of student IEPs goals with fidelity;
* Use a variety of sources (e.g., area of disability, individual needs, master schedule, etc.) to determine and provide appropriate service hours and the service model for students with an IEP;
* Be responsible for the safety and physical well-being of all students in your charge at all times;
* Demonstrate respect, grace and courtesy for all students and adults; and
* Assist students toward self-directed learning and "normalization," as defined in the Montessori philosophy. Prepared Environment and Classroom Management
* Collaborate with the Academic Principal in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials to support the program;
* Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities;
* Manage student behavior in accordance with Montessori principles, positive discipline strategies, the CEMCO Employee Handbook, the CEMCO Family Handbook, and school policies;
* Participate fully in the school's social-emotional learning and positive behavior interventions and supports programs; and
* Ensure the existence of a learning environment free of interference. Communication and Reporting
* Establish and maintain open lines of communication by conducting required and additional scheduled conferences with parents, and conferring with students, colleagues and administration regularly;
* Initiate and request communication regularly with other staff members that work with students on your caseload (e.g., General Education Lead Teacher, General Education Teaching Assistant, Specialized Instruction Teaching Assistant, Speech Language Pathologist, Therapists, etc.) in order to share and receive right-to-know information;
* Provide guidance and support to the Specialized Instruction Teaching Assistants with whom you share a caseload;
