Job Summary

The Student Assistant will support the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering as a Lab Assistant on the Statesboro Campus beginning Spring 2026.

Responsibilities
  • Attend all sessions of assigned lab during the semester.
  • Assist with lab set‑up.
  • Monitor student use of equipment.
  • Help students troubleshoot equipment and/or software issues.
  • Answer technical questions related to software and equipment during the lab session.
Shift Specifics
  • Up to 20 hours per week.
  • Flexible with schedule of availability.
  • Times of shift and number of hours assigned varies depending on student availability and the number of ENGR/EENG courses the student is eligible to assist in.
  • Shift times are when the lab(s) are scheduled to meet.

Student employees cannot work more than 1,300 hours in a 12‑consecutive month period.

Educational Requirements
  • Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.
Preferred Education
  • Completion of one or more of the following ENGR/EENG courses:
    • ENGR 1731 Computing for Engineers
    • ENGR 1732 Program Design for Engineers
    • ENGR 2131 Electronics and Circuit Analysis
    • ENGR 2323 Digital Design Lab
    • ENGR 2341 Introduction to Signal Processing with Lab
    • EENG 3241 Electric Machines with Lab
    • EENG 3340 Microcontrollers with Lab
    • EENG 3341 Microelectronics with Lab
    • EENG 3345 Circuit Analysis II with Lab
    • EENG 5242 Power Systems Protection with Lab
    • EENG 5342 Computer Systems Design with Lab
    • EENG 5431 Control Systems with Lab
    • EENG 5540 Communication Systems with Lab
    • EENG 5543 Antennas and Wireless Propagation with Lab
Preferred Experience
  • Tutoring experience and/or experiential learning involving hand‑on applications using programming software or equipment used in the ENGR/EENG lab‑based courses.
Proposed Salary

$15.00 per hour

Non‑exempt Status

This is a non‑exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.
