Overview
Isle of Hope Baptist Child Development Center is seeking an Assistant Teacher for the Two-Year-Old classroom. The Assistant Teacher supports Lead Teachers, the Director, and the Assistant Director by helping to create a safe, loving Christian atmosphere and by assisting in activities that enhance care and quality of education. The role involves communicating effectively with staff, children, and parents, observing and documenting children’s activities and progress, and implementing developmentally appropriate activities under the direction of the Lead Teacher and Director.

This position is for immediate filling; serious applicants only.
- Maintain professional confidentiality in communications between staff and/or parents
- Provide a safe and loving environment supporting social, emotional, cognitive, creative, and physical development
- Assist the lead teacher with lesson plan and schedule implementation, supervision, and management; encourage participation by children
- Follow the classroom, outdoor, meal, snack, and activity schedule
- Maintain daily communication with families via Procare
- Maintain a safe, comforting, and stimulating classroom environment
- Ensure regular cleanliness, order, and availability of classroom materials
- Change diapers and/or soiled clothes; assist with potty training
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Lead teachers must have one of the following:
Child Development Associate credential (CDA), Technical Certificate of Credit in Early Childhood (TCC), or an Associate’s Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education - Pass a background check
- 1 year+ of on-the-job training
- CPR and First Aid certification (preferred) or obtained within 90 days of hire
- Maintain 18 hours of continued training per year
- Full-time availability, Monday through Friday
- Reliable transportation
- Professional dress and conduct at all times
- Submit satisfactory comprehensive national background check through Bright From the Start
- Genuinely care about children’s development and work well in a team
- Positive, energetic, nurturing personality; ability to communicate effectively with parents
- No use of electronics on the clock, unless for Procare documentation or with permission
- Strong verbal communication and a professional demeanor
- Cell phones not allowed unless required for reporting; ear pods not allowed
- Previous experience
- Knowledge of state licensing requirements and compliance
- Initiative, strong work ethic, flexibility
