Temporary Position for Maternity Leave (approx. 6 – 12 weeks)
Saint James Catholic School in Savannah is a thriving parish school. The Early Learning Center (ELC) began in 2009 as a ministry of the parish and has since become part of Saint James Catholic School. Small class sizes provide opportunities for the teachers and aides to get to know the little ones entrusted to their care.
Qualifications and RequirementsThe Early Learning Center Teacher shall:
- Be at least 21 years of age; AND
- Have a Bachelor’s degree with the equivalent of six (6) college credits in early childhood education; OR
- Have an Associate’s degree with an emphasis in child development or early childhood education
All instructional activities and weekly classroom plans should be based on the State of Georgia’s Bright from the Start Licensing Rules and Regulations, which should be available online. A Lead Teacher should also know and follow the Georgia Early Learning and Development Standards (GELDS, 2014).
Professional ConductAll teachers should uphold the Catholic, Christ-centered mission of St. James Catholic School. All personnel will conduct themselves professionally in both word and action. Faculty members are expected to be Christian examples to other teachers, parents, and students and to adhere to all school and Diocesan policies.
Employment is contingent upon the applicant satisfactorily passing criminal background and reference checks. Must complete and comply with the Diocese of Savannah Virtus Training.
NOTE:VIRTUS training and a criminal background check are required for hiring at parishes and the Diocese of Savannah.
