Position OverviewPosition: 26‑27 Tech Teach Across Texas Teacher Candidate
Reports to: Texas Tech University Site Coordinator
Position type: 10‑month (candidates expected to work during the summer)
Start date: August 3, 2026
Compensation: $25,000 plus additional incentives
As a Teacher Candidate you will participate in the Tech Teach Across Texas program, a partnership with Texas Tech University that supports candidates through instruction, field placement, mentorship, and professional development with the goal of becoming a licensed Texas teacher within one year.
Responsibilities- Attend orientation to the Tech Teach Across Texas program and Introduction to Teaching courses during the Texas Tech University Summer I term.
- Attend study days to prepare for teacher certification exams.
- Participate in field placement, student teaching, and Texas Tech University online and face‑to‑face meetings.
- Maintain professional relationships with mentors, campus administrators, staff, and students; conduct classroom instruction and follow-through on responsibilities at the field site and in Texas Tech University meetings.
- Meet all professionalism expectations established by Tech Teach Across Texas.
- Co‑teach during student teaching field placement in a manner consistent with the program progression.
- Complete Apply & Evaluate assignments and Performance Assessment Cycles, including the use of video‑capture devices and SWIVL technology.
- Meet test‑prep and certification exam benchmarks for CORE, Science of Teaching Reading (EC‑6 candidates), edTPA, and supplemental exams.
- Purchase and utilize online resources designated by the program.
- Complete Site Coordinator‑designated modules, activities, performance checks, and progress monitoring assignments.
- Implement professional behavior related to appropriate use of technology, including cell phone and computer usage.
- Dress professionally in accordance with Tech Teach Across Texas guidelines.
- Adhere to the district calendar for professional development dates, holidays, and early dismissals.
- Maintain prompt, consistent, and reliable attendance during field placement, starting before the school day and ending after dismissal.
- Participate in all in‑service trainings at the beginning of the academic year and throughout the school year.
- Participate in faculty, staff, grade‑level, parent‑teacher conferences, and required meetings such as ARD, LPAC, RTI, and school‑wide events.
- Implement feedback to grow instructional competency.
- Attend weekly co‑planning meetings with the mentor teacher and/or campus leadership.
- Provide student support in the classroom to impact student achievement.
- Complete all Tech Teach Across Texas program documentation as required.
- Complete additional duties as assigned.
- Completed an Associate of Arts in Teaching degree or a completed Associate of Arts/Science degree plus the required coursework.
- Minimum GPA of 2.75.
- 66 transferable credit hours.
- Meet the foreign language requirement.
- Applied and accepted to Texas Tech University as a transfer student.

- Compensation: $25,000 plus additional incentives to supplement tuition and meet certification expectations.
