Position: SY 26-27 6th - 8th SOAR Classroom Teacher (SKTCS)
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
To provide appropriate learning experiences and educational opportunities for each student assigned to the class.

* Education Level: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university Preferred:
Advanced degree(s)
* Experience, Skill and Certification:
Valid Georgia Teaching Certificate in the assigned teaching field:
Middle Grades Education (ELA and/or Social Studies), OR English, Language Arts, Literacy, Social Studies, History, Political Science, or a related field with teaching certification eligibility

Preferred Qualifications
* Master's Degree in Education, Counseling, Leadership, or a related field
* Experience with MTSS and PBIS frameworks
* Experience teaching ELA, Social Studies, Study Skills, Advisory, or Intervention courses
* Experience facilitating SEL curriculum
* Experience working in a Title I school environment Position Summary The SOAR Educator serves as the facilitator of SKTCS's SOAR (Skills for Organization, Achievement, and Responsibility) program. This position is responsible for providing academic intervention, executive functioning instruction, social-emotional learning support, goal-setting opportunities, and college/career readiness experiences for middle school scholars. The SOAR Educator works closely with teachers, administrators, families, and support staff to ensure scholars develop the skills necessary to become independent learners, responsible citizens, and future-ready leaders.

The ideal candidate is passionate about middle school education, relationship-building, academic growth, and helping scholars develop the habits needed for success in high school and beyond.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Academic Support & Intervention
* Facilitate daily SOAR classes for middle school scholars.
* Provide targeted intervention and enrichment based on scholar needs.
* Monitor scholar academic progress using classroom, benchmark, and diagnostic data.
* Support scholars with study skills, note-taking, organization, time management, and academic goal setting.
* Assist scholars in monitoring grades and developing action plans for improvement. Social-Emotional Learning (SEL)
* Deliver structured SEL lessons aligned to school wide goals.
* Foster a positive and supportive classroom culture.
* Teach conflict resolution, self-awareness, self-management, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.
* Collaborate with counselors, mentors, and administrators to support scholars' social-emotional development. Executive Functioning & Leadership Development
* Teach organizational systems and habits that support academic success.
* Guide scholars in setting short-term and long-term goals.
* Facilitate leadership activities, service-learning projects, and character development opportunities.
* Help scholars develop self-advocacy skills and personal responsibility. College, Career, and Future Readiness
* Expose scholars to college and career exploration opportunities.
* Facilitate lessons related to career pathways, financial literacy, workforce readiness, and future planning.
* Support scholars in creating academic and personal growth plans. Data Monitoring & MTSS Support
* Participate in MTSS meetings and collaborate with intervention teams.
* Maintain records of scholar participation, progress monitoring, and intervention effectiveness.
* Utilize attendance, behavior, and academic data to identify scholars requiring additional support.
* Assist with implementation of Tier I and Tier II interventions. Family & School Collaboration
* Communicate regularly with families regarding scholar progress and goals.
* Collaborate with classroom teachers to reinforce academic and behavioral expectations.
* Support school wide initiatives that promote scholar achievement and positive school culture. General Duties and Responsibilities
1. Teacher Duties and Responsibilities a. Follows professional practices consistent with school and district policies in working with students, students' records, parents, and colleagues
* Interacts in a professional manner with students and parents
* Is available to students and parents for conferences according to district policies
* Facilitates home-school communication by such means as holding conferences, telephoning, and sending written communications
* Maintains confidentiality of students and students' records
* Works cooperatively with school administrators, special support personnel, colleagues, and parents b. Complies with school, district, and state administrative regulations and Board of Education policies
* Conducts assigned classes at the times scheduled
* Enforces regulations concerning student conduct and discipline
* Is punctual
* Provides adequate information, plans, and materials for substitute teacher
* Maintains accurate, complete and appropriate records and files reports promptly
