Job Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
To provide appropriate learning experiences and educational opportunities for each student assigned to the class.

Reports to:

Principal.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (advanced degree(s) preferred).
Valid Georgia Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education P-5.

Essential Duties

Provide instruction at appropriate instructional level, develop content, and build for transfer.
Assess and encourage student progress: promote engagement, monitor progress, respond to progress, and support students.
Manage learning environment: use time efficiently, maintain effective physical setting, maintain appropriate student behavior.

Virtual Duties and Responsibilities

Communicate effectively with stakeholders via virtual platforms, using written and oral form.
Use programs and software applications for instructional and administrative tasks.
Participate in professional learning to enhance online instruction and obtain virtual teaching endorsement.
Clearly articulate deadlines, schedules, and procedures to students and parents.

General Duties and Responsibilities

Teacher Duties:

Follow professional practices consistent with school and district policies.
Interact professionally with students and parents.
Be available for conferences per district policies.
Facilitate home‑school communication.
Maintain confidentiality of students and records.
Cooperate with administrators, special support personnel, colleagues, and parents.

Compliance:

Conduct assigned classes at scheduled times.
Enforce regulations concerning conduct and discipline.
Be punctual.
Provide information, plans, and materials to substitute teachers.
Maintain accurate records and file reports promptly.
Attend faculty meetings and other assignments per school policy.
Comply with conditions in the contract of employment.

Professional Practice:

Model correct use of language.
Demonstrate accurate content knowledge.
Implement designated curriculum.
Maintain lesson plans as required.
Assign reasonable tasks and homework.

Administrative and Safety:

Take precautions to protect records, equipment, and materials.
Supervise students in out‑of‑class settings.

Perform other duties as required such as content-area competitions, after‑hours activities, and district or student‑needs based tasks.

Plan and coordinate assignments for paraprofessionals, supporting staff, and volunteers; provide input to administration on their performance.

Terms of Employment

Annual contract; 190 school days; salary determined by certification level and allowable experience.

Physical and Sensory Demands

Classroom category: prolonged periods of standing or walking, occasional bending, stooping, stretching, lifting, restraining students, reading, listening, writing, speaking; minimal exceptional demands.

Position Type:
Full‑Time | Salary Range: $52,839 to $109,029 per year.
