Open Rank Faculty in Psychiatry and Health Behavior

The Department of Psychiatry and Health Behavior at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University seeks a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor within the Psychology Service. This position is responsible for leading NIH-funded research initiatives and coordinating grant submissions for the department. The selected candidate will conduct and lead research projects within their area of expertise and supervise research staff in support of ongoing research activities.

Tenure status (on tenure track, tenure upon appointment, or not on tenure track) will be determined based on the qualifications of the final candidate and will be confirmed in the final offer along with position expectations.

Responsibilities
  • Grant Submission and Research (60%)
    • Strong research productivity demonstrated through publications and presentations
    • Develop and implement research projects

      Conduct and lead research projects
  • Publish (20%)
    • Publish findings in academic journals and other publications
    • Demonstrate advancing knowledge through teaching and research
  • Education (20%)
    • Teaching and scheduling and didactics
Required Qualifications
  • Ph.D. or equivalent from an accredited institution
  • Assistant Professor: early career faculty member with appropriate post‑graduate training.
  • Associate Professor: mid‑career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
  • Professor: senior‑career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
  • Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions:
    • Consistent with SACSCOC requirements for institutional accreditation.
    • Evidence of ability as a teacher.
    • Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned.
    • Successful experience (waived for new entrants meeting other requirements).
    • Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
Shift/Salary/Benefits

This position is fiscal year based and works year-round. The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.

  • Salary and compensation commensurate with education, experience, and achievements; subject to availability of funds.

  • Eligible for Tuition Assistance Program after 6 months of successful employment.

Rank and salary are determined at the time of hire and are based on experience, education, credentials, specialty, training, etc., while also considering internal equity and market data.

Advancement through the faculty ranks at Augusta University is through the annual Promotion and Tenure process.

All selected candidates are required to successfully pass a Background Check review prior to starting with Augusta University. If applicable, the candidate will also need to have a credit check completed for Positions of Trust and/or approved departmental Purchase Card usage. Motor vehicle reports are required for positions that are required to drive an Augusta University vehicle.
