Job Summary:
Middle Georgia State University is seeking candidates for a part‑time Student Assistant to serve as a Supplemental Instruction (SI) Leader or an Embedded Tutor (ET) in the Student Success Center.
- Attend class lectures of historically difficult courses as a model student, build rapport with students, and plan SI weekly collaborative review sessions.
- Help students reinforce knowledge from class lectures and assignments and offer strategies to integrate “how to learn” with “what to learn.”
- Meet with the faculty member on a regular basis and attend SSC training.
- Maintain accurate records and comply with FERPA regulations.
- Assist faculty with in‑class support, primarily for corequisite math and English courses.
- Attend corequisite lectures as required.

- Must be a currently enrolled MGA student.
- Must be enrolled in 6 or more semester hours per semester.
- Must have a GPA of 3.00 or greater.
- Grade of A or B in the SI course, taken either at MGA or a transfer institution.
- Recommendation from faculty on campus.
- Exhibits course‑content competency as determined by academic transcript and the faculty recommendation.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong commitment to public service.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Relevant experience in academic support, tutoring, or mentoring.
