Position: Electrical/HVACR Teacher (CTAE)

Job Title

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
To provide appropriate learning experiences and educational opportunities for each student assigned to the class.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education Level: High School Diploma
  • Experience, Skill, and Certification:
    Valid Georgia Teaching Certificate in the assigned teaching field OR eligible for GaPSC issued Permit. To be eligible for a GaPSC issued permit/certification one of the following is required:
    • Option I: Valid Level IV certificate in Carpentry, Electrical, HVAC or Plumbing issued by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER); a valid Level III certificate in Masonry issued by NCCER; a valid Contractor license issued by the Georgia Board of Construction Industry; or a valid Contractor license from the Georgia State Licensing Board for Residential and General Contractors
    • Option II: Pass one of the following: NOCTI Teacher Assessments:
      Building Construction Occupations;
      Cabinetmaking;
      Carpentry;
      Electrical Construction Technology; or Plumbing.
    • Option III: Pass the NOCTI Teacher Assessments in Industrial Maintenance Mechanics or hold one of the following: A valid Level III or IV certificate in Industrial Maintenance Mechanic issued by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER). Option IV:
      Associate's degree or higher from a GaPSC accepted accredited institution in construction, construction management, industrial maintenance or a GaPSC determined equivalent.

Virtual Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders in the Virtual Platform in written and oral form, including electronic media, using positive interpersonal skills
  • Uses a variety of programs and software applications, as appropriate, to complete instructional and administrative tasks
  • Participate in professional learning to enhance ability to provide engaging online instruction a. Participate in required Professional Learning that leads to virtual teaching endorsement
  • Clearly articulates deadlines, schedules, and procedures to students and parents to ensure that students complete coursework in a timely manner

General Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teacher Duties and Responsibilities a. Follows professional practices consistent with school and district policies in working with students, students' records, parents, and colleagues
    • Interacts in a professional manner with students and parents
    • Is available to students and parents for conferences according to district policies
    • Facilitates home-school communication by such means as holding conferences, telephoning, and sending written communications
    • Maintains confidentiality of students and students' records
    • Works cooperatively with school administrators, special support personnel, colleagues, and parents
  • b. Complies with school, district, and state administrative regulations and Board of Education policies
    • Conducts assigned classes at the times scheduled
    • Enforces regulations concerning student conduct and discipline
    • Is punctual
    • Provides adequate information, plans, and materials for substitute teacher
    • Maintains accurate, complete and appropriate records and files reports promptly
    • Attends and participates in faculty meeting and other assigned meetings and activities according to school policy
    • Complies with conditions as stated in the Contract of Employment
  • c. Demonstrates professional practices in teaching
    • Models correct use of language, oral and written
    • Demonstrates accurate and up-to-date knowledge of content
    • Implements designated curriculum
    • Maintains lesson plans as required by school policy
    • Assigns reasonable tasks and homework to students
