Job Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Provide appropriate learning experiences and educational opportunities for each student assigned to the class.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education Level: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university (Preferred:
    Advanced degree(s)).
  • Experience, Skill and Certification:
    Valid Georgia Teaching Certificate in the assigned teaching field Biology 6-12.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Provides Instruction: teaches at an appropriate instructional level, provides content development, builds for transfer.
  • Assesses and Encourages Student Progress: promotes student engagement, monitors progress, responds to adequate and inadequate progress, supports students.
  • Manages the Learning Environment: uses time efficiently, maintains effective physical setting for instruction, maintains appropriate student behavior.
  • Virtual Duties and Responsibilities
    • Ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders in the virtual platform in written and oral form, including electronic media, using positive interpersonal skills.
    • Uses a variety of programs and software applications, as appropriate, to complete instructional and administrative tasks.
    • Participate in professional learning to enhance ability to provide engaging online instruction a. Participate in required Professional Learning that leads to virtual teaching endorsement.
    • Clearly articulates deadlines, schedules, and procedures to students and parents to ensure that students complete coursework in a timely manner.
    General Duties and Responsibilities

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    follows professional practices consistent with school and district policies in working with students, students’ records, parents, and colleagues.

    • Interacts in a professional manner with students and parents.
    • Is available to students and parents for conferences according to district policies.
    • Facilitates home‑school communication by such means as holding conferences, telephoning, and sending written communications.
    • Maintains confidentiality of students and students’ records.
    • Works cooperatively with school administrators, special support personnel, colleagues, and parents.

    2. Complies with school, district, and state administrative regulations and Board of Education policies: conducts assigned classes at the times scheduled, enforces regulations concerning student conduct and discipline, is punctual, provides adequate information, plans, and materials for substitute teacher, maintains accurate, complete, and appropriate records and files reports promptly, attends and participates in faculty meetings and other assigned meetings and activities according to school policy, complies with conditions as stated in the Contract of Employment.
