PRIMARY FUNCTION

To provide appropriate learning experiences and educational opportunities for each student assigned to the class.

Requirements

    Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university. Preferred:
    Advanced degree(s)
  • Experience, Skill and Certification
    :
    Valid Georgia Professional Teaching Certificate in the assigned teaching field Elementary Education P-5.

  • Virtual Duties and Responsibilities
    • Ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders in the virtual platform in written and oral form, including electronic media, using positive interpersonal skills
    • Uses a variety of programs and software applications, as appropriate, to complete instructional and administrative tasks
    • Participate in professional learning to enhance ability to provide engaging online instruction; participate in required professional learning that leads to virtual teaching endorsement
    • Clearly articulates deadlines, schedules, and procedures to students and parents to ensure that students complete coursework in a timely manner
    General Duties and Responsibilities
    • Follows professional practices consistent with school and district policies in working with students, parents, and colleagues
    • Interacts in a professional manner with students and parents
    • Is available to students and parents for conferences according to district policies
    • Facilitates home-school communication by holding conferences, telephoning, and sending written communications
    • Maintains confidentiality of students and records
    • Works cooperatively with administrators, special support personnel, colleagues, and parents
    • Complies with school, district, and state regulations and Board of Education policies: conducts assigned classes, enforces discipline, is punctual, provides information for substitute teacher, maintains records, attends meetings, complies with contract
    • Demonstrates professional teaching practices: models correct language, demonstrates knowledge, implements curriculum, maintains lesson plans, assigns reasonable tasks
    • Acts professionally and assumes responsibility for total school program, safety, and order: protects records, equipment, supervises students, etc.
    • Performs other duties as required based on content area taught, supporting staff, district or student needs
    Terms of Employment

    Incumbents will receive an annual contract. The work calendar will be 190 days. Salary will be determined based on level of certification and allowable experience.

    Physical and Sensory Demands

    The position is in the CLASSROOM category: prolonged periods of standing or walking, occasional bending, stooping, stretching, lifting or pulling equipment, reading, listening, writing, speaking. Few exceptional demands; may require lifting or restraint of a student.
