8 CERTIFIED Special education paraprofessionals supporting special education, general education, and inclusion settings
Specific assignment details and school locations will be determined after interviews with SCCSS directors and principals. Candidate placement will be based on several factors, including:
- Relevant experience
- Candidate preferences
- The district's highest areas of need
The goal is to align each candidate with the most appropriate school and grade level while meeting the district's staffing priorities.
Paraprofessional vacancies- 7th and 8th grade Inclusion Para positions at Mercer Middle School
- Inclusion para at Isle of Hope K8
- Inclusion para at DeRenne Middle School
- Inclusion para at Rice Creek K8
- 1:1 Dedicated para for 10th grade student at Jenkins High School (physical strength needed)
- 1
PSI para and one Inclusion para at May Howard Elementary
The School Aide is an individual who works with students requiring instructional, and/or behavioral assistance under the supervision of the special education department, teacher and/or supervising designee. The School Aide may also provide support services to assist students with personal, physical mobility and therapeutic care needs, as established by a rehabilitation health practitioner, social worker or other health care professional.
Minimum Requirements- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Comply with all relevant professional standards of practice
- Current CPR if applicable
- TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
- Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
