Position: SY 26-27 Secondary Social Studies Classroom Teacher

SY 26-27 History Classroom Teacher

Job Overview

Provide appropriate learning experiences and educational opportunities for each student assigned to the class.

Reports to:

Principal.

Responsibilities
  • Teach the curriculum to students at the appropriate instructional level.
  • Develop and deliver engaging lessons, including content development and transfer.
  • Promote student engagement, monitor progress, and respond to both adequate and inadequate performance.
  • Support students, promote positive behavior, and manage the learning environment.
  • Use time efficiently and maintain an effective physical setting for instruction.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders via virtual platforms, electronic media, and in-person.
  • Utilize a variety of software applications for instructional and administrative tasks.
  • Participate in professional learning and pursue virtual teaching endorsement.
  • Clearly articulate deadlines, schedules, and procedures to students and parents.
  • Adhere to professional practices in line with school, district, and state policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records and cooperate with colleagues and parents.
  • Comply with regulations concerning conduct, discipline, punctuality, and substitute supervision.
  • Maintain accurate records, attend faculty meetings, and meet contract conditions.
  • Model correct language use, demonstrate subject knowledge, implement curriculum, maintain lesson plans, and assign tasks.
  • Assume responsibility for school program safety, supervise students in out-of-class settings, and coordinate assignments for paraprofessionals and volunteers.
  • Perform additional duties as required by the district, school, or student need.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university (Advanced degree preferred).
  • Valid Georgia Teaching Certificate in History (grades 6-12).
Terms of Employment

Full-time, 190 days per year.

Annual contract. Salary: $52,839 to $109,029 per year, based on certification level and experience.

Physical Demands

Employees spend most of the day in a classroom setting, standing, walking, and occasionally lifting or moving equipment. Reading, listening, writing, and speaking are required.
