Job Summary

Reporting to the director of the English Language Institute, part‑time instructors teach various ESOL courses and participate in program activities. The positions are temporary appointments, and the salaries are competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

NOTE:

In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required eligibility verification form upon hire. This position does not offer sponsorship for employment visas.

Responsibilities
  • Provide instruction for ESOL courses
  • Provide instruction for Writing/Grammar, Reading, Listening/Speaking & Computer Assisted Learning.
  • Oversee student assessment with a focus on learning outcomes
  • Prepare students through culture and language instruction for entry into the university
  • Perform all other duties that may be required for this position
Required Qualifications
  • Master's degree in TESOL, Linguistics, or a closely related discipline; or BA/BS degree with a certificate in TESOL and ESOL teaching experience
  • A minimum of one year of teaching ESOL
  • Certification or experience in TESOL, Linguistics or teaching a foreign language.
  • Extensive experience with MS Office Suite
  • Comfortable and enthusiastic in a wide range of groups and cross‑cultural relationships
  • Experience learning a foreign language is a plus
Proposed Salary

The salary per course is $2,000.00. Course's length is 8 weeks.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Knowledge of ESOL approaches and methodologies, including assessment techniques, test/measurement principles, and instructional material design and development
  • Skill in intercultural and interpersonal communication
  • Skill in communication (oral and written)
  • Skill in effective time management
  • Ability to act responsibly and entrepreneurially in initiating action plans for change and improvement
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English to non‑native speakers
