Standard

Hours:

20 hours per week.

Minimum Salary: $35,799.50 annually. Maximum Salary: $53,296.50 annually.

Qualifications
  • Valid Georgia teaching certification (Required)
  • Mathematics certification and/or concentration (Preferred)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field (Required)
  • Master’s Degree in related field (Preferred)
  • 3 years of successful teaching experience (Required)
  • Experience delivering professional learning opportunities and working with best practices in mathematics (Preferred)
  • Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks/projects concurrently
  • Ability to create and deliver professional learning that supports the direction of the mathematics program and supports the vision, mission, and goals of the district
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Strong technology skills, including Lotus Notes Database and Microsoft Office Suite programs
  • Knowledge and application of research-based instructional strategies in mathematics
  • Knowledge of Gwinnett County Public Schools Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS) curriculum with in-depth knowledge of mathematics
  • Knowledge of techniques for integrating curriculum, GCPS policies, and effective instructional practices
  • Ability to work successfully with colleagues
  • Ability to project and generate a positive attitude
  • Ability to effect change
Responsibilities
  • Provide professional learning opportunities in support of teaching and learning.
    • Develop and facilitate professional learning consistent with the philosophy, goals, objectives, and needs of the district and the mathematics program K‑12.
    • Facilitate professional learning by modeling and coaching with teachers, inclusive of the balanced numeracy framework, formative assessment lessons, exemplars, and STEM instructional practices with a focus on problem‑based learning.
    • Demonstrate practical application of research‑based, learner‑centered Quality‑Plus Teaching Strategies.
    • Implement professional learning through principals, assistant principals, department chairs, course team leads, grade level chairs, cluster vertical teams, and other appropriate personnel.
  • Develop curriculum designed to support the mathematics program.
    • Lead the selection, pilot, and implementation of core mathematics materials, K‑12, to support instruction of the AKS in mathematics.
    • Lead the development of instructional resources to include eCLASS course pages, lesson plans, interventions, extensions, and assessments for the mathematics program, K‑12.
    • Collect data from a variety of sources, including local, state, national, international, and standardized testing programs to monitor student achievement in mathematics.
    • Effectively analyze and use local school data to lead data talks to impact student achievement in mathematics.
  • Support local schools in the district.
    • Provide support for Local School Plans for Improvement (LSPI) as it relates to mathematics achievement.
    • Provide support and assistance to principals, assistant principals, department chairs, course team leads, grade level chairs, cluster vertical teams, and other appropriate personnel who are creating and implementing interventions and extensions for mathematics AKS.
  • Communicate to various internal and external audiences concerning program research and information.
    • Interpret program philosophy, goals, and objectives to various audiences.
    • Provide information to appropriate personnel regarding current research, knowledge, and trends in mathematics.
  • Provide student support.
    • Manage and promote student programs.
    • Model in classrooms as appropriate.
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee is also required to talk, hear, stand, and walk. The employee may be required to use hands to touch, handle, feel, and/or reach. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
