Professor, Interior Design

As an interior design professor, you will prepare talented students to become effective communicators, innovative collaborators, and responsible catalysts of change through unparalleled educational opportunities. Students will emerge ready for their chosen industries as forward-thinking, purpose-driven creators inspired to maximize health, wellness, style, and sustainable practices across the vast interior design sectors. Responsibilities include adherence to all duties and expectations outlined in the SCAD Faculty Handbook, which encompasses coursework preparation, syllabus design and approval, office hours, midterm grade reviews, and more.

Among other responsibilities, you will provide students with extra-help sessions, extended learning opportunities, and field trips outside regular class hours.

In this role, you will model professionalism, fulfill all grading and academic documentation requirements, and record attendance. You will assist with all academic assessment and institutional effectiveness efforts. Occasionally, you may support departmental and university-wide initiatives by attending in-person and virtual events, including faculty councils, admission activities, accreditation support, curriculum development, and exhibitions, among other duties. Professors must fulfill teaching assignments determined by contact hours, as specified in the Employment Agreement.

• Degree in interior design or a related discipline
• Experience in or knowledge of related professions
• NCIDQ Certification
• Demonstrated fluency in industry-standard design software (Revit, AutoCAD, Sketch Up, and Adobe Creative Suite)

• Teaching experience at the collegiate level

• Less than 10%

• Academic and professional credentials to teach interior design
