Tech Spec I - General Metallics / Mechanical Fastening
Materials & Processes Technical Specialist I supporting Metallics for in-production aircraft (G500 / G600 / G700 / G800).
BS in Mechanical, Civil, Materials Science, Metallurgy, or equivalent technical degree.
The M&P Engineering Metallics team is seeking a self-motivated individual with a strong background in aerospace manufacturing or a related field, with specialization in general metallics and mechanical fastening.
Unique Skills- Experience with a variety of aerospace metallic material systems
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate with manufacturers / suppliers to achieve program and company goals
- Experience with mechanical fastening of metallics (fasteners, hardware, bushings / bearings, etc.)
- Aptitude for continuous improvement initiatives as it relates to the manufacturing and assembly of metallic aircraft structure
The preferred candidate will demonstrate a positive attitude and willingness to work in a team environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesClose coordination with other members of the M&P Engineering team to develop deliverables for in-production aircraft programs.
- Authoring test plans and test reports
- Revising M&P documentation (GAMPS, GMS/AML, GA Standards, etc.)
- Interrogating 3D based designs for M&P requirements
- Reviewing M&P supplier specifications
- Project management (planning / initiation through execution / closure)
- Contributes to planning, developing and coordinating of important engineering projects.
- Provides specialized technical assistance to team members.
- Uses advanced techniques and modified extension of theories to provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.
- Determines and develops own approach to solutions within schedule and cost objectives.
- Works under limited supervision; work should only be required to be reviewed for accuracy and consistency with meeting overall objectives.
- Acts as liaison with representatives outside of the assigned group/area.
- Actively works to improve daily processes and ensures all work meets customer requirements.
- Maintains current knowledge of developments in the field of specialty and/or other related aircraft fields to recommend innovations that improve quality and effectiveness of company products.
- Advanced degree in an engineering related field preferred.
- The level of technical skill and abilities appropriate for this grade will be established by each discipline.
- 5 years in a specific technical discipline or 10 years of broad engineering experience across several disciplines with a bachelor’s degree; additional credit for related advanced degrees (maximum 2 years for a master’s, 4 years for a PhD) is considered.
