Ready to turn the classroom theory into real-world engineering? Belt Power is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer Intern or Part-time team member to join our team. We offer flexible hours that work with school schedules, plus a full-time career potential.

Belt Power is a full-service distributor and fabricator specializing in conveyor system solutions for the manufacturing and material handling industries - delivering quality, value-added components and strong local service capabilities.

You'll support our Engineering Projects Department with product development, 3D design, and research—helping ensure our operations stay effective, efficient, and customer-focused.

Responsibilities include:

• Create mechanical design solutions as directed by engineering team members or customers
• Take ownership of new product development projects (from concept through drawing/package deliverables)
• Partner with inside/outside sales to produce 3D models and 2D drawings for customer approval
• Collaborate with engineering, account managers, and customers to create drawings for new parts
• Reverse engineer products and design solutions
• Create DXF files and 2D drawings for specialty belts and parts (for shop fabrication and CNC equipment)
• Drive QC process standards to ensure finished products meet design requirements
• Generate part numbers for new items and ensure integration into company systems
• Accurately measure and create drawings from customer-provided physical parts
• Use tools/equipment safely; follow all safety rules; maintain a neat work area; wear required PPE
• Represent Belt Power professionally; perform other duties as assigned

• Experience with 3D modeling and drawing generation
• Working toward (or completed) a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Associate, or Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET) Associate
• CAD experience in Fusion 360, Inventor, Solid Works, or Solid Edge
• Must be able to pass a drug and background screen

• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
• Excellent organization and prioritization skills
• Ability to interpret and verify precise measurements (including using a tape measure)
• Desire and ability to learn quickly, adapt, and take initiative
• Reliability, integrity, teamwork, positive attitude, and a proactive mindset

• Lift up to 15 pounds; requires manual dexterity and arm strength
• Ability to access and navigate each department/facility area
• Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer
• Assembly of prototypes using common tools
