Role Overview
Hussey Gay Bell desires to have well rounded engineers. It is our desire that Engineers learn the design, production, permitting, construction, closeout, and business side of each project. Therefore, Engineers are not dedicated to sole, individual responsibilities, but to projects as a whole. As a Water Resources Engineer, you will be involved from the blank canvas to the ribbon cutting. It is important that you feel a connection to the project.
Engineers and designers work primarily in the area of their office location but may assist other offices in times of need. As you grow, you will be involved in client management and business development.
- Apply a diverse knowledge of engineering principles relative to water distribution and sewer collection and/or pump station design and other water resources tasks based on experience.
- Lead and manage the design, planning, and implementation of complex water and sewer projects, including water distribution systems, wastewater treatment, and drinking water treatment.
- Oversee and direct the preparation of engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates using advanced design software.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Coordinate with clients, regulatory agencies, contractors, funding agencies and stakeholders to drive innovation and maintain competitive advantage.
- Work as a team member with other project engineers to produce reports, studies, specifications, and construction documents.
- Meet with clients to discuss needs, conceptualize solutions, and develop proposals.
- Develop a working knowledge of funding sources for municipal projects.
- Supervise and seal designs by other engineers.
- Manage projects from concept through construction.
- Develop an overall understanding of client’s long‑term goals.
- Participate in business development efforts such as networking in industry organizations, e.g. GAWP, GRWA, AWWA as well as developing new client contacts.
- Work with and support designs and projects in other HGB offices.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to team members and other appropriate employees.
BS in Civil or Environmental Engineering at an ABET-accredited institution.
- PE license in GA, or ability to obtain.
- 8+ years of experience related to water projects.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil3D software.
- Experience with hydraulic modeling software such as Water
CAD. - EIT or ability to obtain.
- Advanced leadership skills as either a technical leader and/or project manager of complex projects.
- Experience with large scale distribution networks, sewer collection and treatment.
- Experience working with a team of engineers.
- Self motivated.
