Education and Experience Requirements
High School Diploma or GED required. 6 years related work experience in an aviation or related career field or 2 years accredited schooling in aviation 4 years related work experience in an aviation or related career field. 3 years supervisory experience. A&P (FAA Airframe and Powerplant) license preferred.
Position PurposeThe Aircraft Coordinator is an extension of leadership and operates under the direction of the Operations Manager. This role serves as the primary liaison for coordinating all work and inspection activities in the assigned area, planning and assigning crew members, and focusing on quality, scheduling, and cost. The role supports department management in tactics, strategies, and stands in for the Operations Manager when required.
Job DescriptionPrinciple Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assign and coordinate all work tasks to ensure a smooth workflow by working directly with aircraft mechanics/technicians, engineering, and planning.
- Work with management teams to ensure company/department goals related to safety, quality, schedule and cost are met.
- Subject Matter Expert for all installations/processes within assigned department.
- Work with OE/ME/IEs to ensure Work Plans, Work Orders, and Work Instructions are correct, and support changes to the work order as needed for changes to installations or processes.
- Work with OE/ME/IEs on lean initiatives.
- Oversee and coordinate department training compliance including skills matrix training, scheduled training, and CBTs.
- Coordinate and execute any out-of-station work in a way that minimizes the impact on the customer.
- Reduce and eliminate out-of-station carry over work through process improvements.
- Oversee and coordinate the Delegated Inspection Program within assigned department to obtain inspection stamps for technicians.
- Oversee all work to ensure compliance with relevant specifications and released data.
- Lead continuous safety program and maintain 6S standards.
- Review daily job charging to ensure accuracy of input.
- Provide recommendations on EPR evaluations.
Additional Functions:
- Maintain current aircraft status information and present to management as required.
- Ensure all documentation is retained and First Article Inspections (FAI) are coordinated through the certification office and Quality.
- Ensure compliance with High Risk Task procedures, including making sure JRA/JSAs are up to date and available.
- Review all quality discrepancies to ensure they have been properly addressed and trended items reported.
- Work with materials dispatchers/purchasing to ensure availability of parts/components/materials.
- Ensure department participation in MBU side-bar teams;
Site Safety Council, Quality Council, Continuous Improvement Council, Ergo Council, FOD Council, etc.
Other Requirements:
- Preferred proficiency, or demonstrated ability to become proficient, in the operation and troubleshooting of other aircraft systems or disciplines other than avionics (Hydraulics, Landing Gear, Flight Controls, Environmental Controls or Structural Installations and Repairs).
- Knowledge of Solumina and Smarteam preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Ability to read and interpret travelers, maintenance manuals, engineering orders, and blueprints.
- This job requires one to be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
