Human Factors Engineer - Technical Specialist I - GAC Savannah
Position to assist with planning, coordination, performance of design, analysis, and liaison engineering supporting the development and production of Gulfstream products and services.
Key Responsibilities- Perform trade studies on system design concepts and present human factors requirement recommendations to multidisciplinary design teams.
- Design part‑task simulation evaluations for detailed design requirement definition using software, physical mockups, or predictive modeling tools.
- Recommend appropriate anthropometric modeling tools for design concept analysis.
- Apply data analysis methods (descriptive or inferential statistics).
- Prepare, develop, and execute part‑task and/or simulator/flight test plans utilizing rating scales, questionnaires, and performance measurement calculation.
- Create operational tests to demonstrate human factors compliance with regulations and prepare engineering reports to substantiate compliance.
- Develop human error analysis worksheets to substantiate Human Factors certification compliance.
- Document certification testing in final engineering reports.
- Utilize industry and/or regulatory committee design guidance or regulations to support design aspects.
- Develop standards and guides for human factors methods.
- Contribute to planning, developing, and coordinating important engineering projects.
- Provide specialized technical assistance to team members.
- Determine and develop own approach to solutions within schedule and cost objectives.
- Act as liaison with representatives outside the assigned group/area.
- Actively work to improve daily processes to ensure work meets customer requirements.
- Maintain current knowledge of developments in the field of specialty and recommend innovations to improve quality and effectiveness of company products.
Skills and Abilities
- Experience with basic research methods and use of human subjects in evaluations and experiments.
- Ability to convey technical and non‑technical concepts clearly and succinctly in written and verbal formats.
- Good judgment in using advanced techniques and modified extensions of theories to provide technical solutions to difficult problems.
- Works well under limited supervision.
- Experience with data analysis methods and familiarity with statistical analysis tools (e.g., SPSS, Minitab).
- Aviation/aerospace human factors experience or be a certificated pilot or similar experience.
Skills and Abilities
- Experience with advanced task analysis methods.
- Experience with biomechanics and time study theories.
- Experience with sensation and perception research.
- Experience with simulation software (e.g., CATIA V5 Human Builder, NX Jack, 3
DSSPP, OPTIS SPEOS, iData). - Experience with requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS).
- Experience with Lean Six Sigma philosophies.
- Flying experience (e.g., PPL, CPL, ATP).
Bachelor's Degree required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. 5 years in a specific technical discipline or 10 years broad engineering experience in several technical disciplines with a Bachelor's. Experience credit considered for related advanced degrees: limited to 2 years for a Master’s, 4 years for a PhD in applicable fields.

- Advanced degree in an engineering related field preferred.
- Level of technical skill and abilities appropriate for this grade will be established by each discipline.
- Must read, write, speak, and understand English.
