Skills:
- Perform ergonomic assessments including reach, fit, and accessibility of flight deck and maintenance operations.
- Perform strength analysis to determine force limitations of a targeted population. Develop actuation and abuse load estimates for system design requirements.
- Provide design comparisons and human interface requirements for system design documentation.
- Apply data analysis methods during part task simulation evaluations using software and physical prototypes to assess usability of key flight deck and maintenance interfaces.
- Prepare and develop test plans describing the objectives, methods, and experiments proposed for structured part task evaluations.
- Assist in simulator test evaluations.
- Report final results in interoffice memorandums, A3s, or engineering reports.
- Identify possible sources of error in interface structure and/or control design during detailed system design.
- Research internal and external industry documentation as well as outside sources (MOPS, FAA docs) for information regarding specific design aspects and/or usability issues.
Skills and Abilities
- A passion for aviation human factors
- Experience with basic research methods and use of human subjects in evaluations and experiments.
- Interdisciplinary foundation in engineering principles and technical knowledge for understanding complex systems
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with software packages to perform descriptive statistics (e.g., SPSS, Minitab, etc.)
- Willingness to collaborate with others to accomplish the team's goals.
- Technical writing experience (preferably with one or more documents released in AIR)
- Critical thinking and problem solving skills
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of operational use of aircraft systems
- Knowledge of ARP 4754A
- Knowledge of how to apply military and industry avionics and human factors standards
- Experience with task analysis methods
- Familiarity with biomechanics and time study theories
- Experience with sensation and perception research
- Experience with CATIA V5 or Unigraphics NX
- Experience with CATIA V5 Human Builder or equivalent to perform anthropometric modeling
- Experience with Lean Six Sigma philosophies
- Flying experience (e.g., PPL, CPL, ATP)
Bachelor's Degree Engineering or a related curriculum required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job. 18 months related Engineering experience. Experience credit will be considered for related advance degrees limited to 2 years for Master’s and 4 years for PhD in field applicable to the job position.
Position Purpose
:
Performs engineering work related to the investigation and the solution of technical problems associated with research, design, development, service and manufacture of Gulfstream aircraft.
