Position Summary

We are seeking a hands-on Project Engineer/Construction Project Manager to lead capital projects, industrial construction, equipment installations, and plant improvements within a manufacturing facility. This position combines project engineering, construction oversight, and capital project management. The Project Engineer will manage projects throughout the complete lifecycle—from scope development, design, budgeting, and contractor selection through construction, installation, commissioning, startup, and final turnover. The ideal candidate has experience managing construction and engineering projects in a manufacturing, industrial, chemical, process, or continuous-production environment.

Candidates with titles such as Project Engineer, Capital Projects Engineer, Plant Engineer, Facilities Engineer, Construction Project Manager, Engineering Project Manager, or Construction Engineer may be considered.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead capital projects involving industrial construction, facility improvements, process modifications, and new equipment installations.
  • Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, cost estimates, capital expenditure justifications, and downtime requirements.
  • Provide construction project management and oversight throughout installation and implementation.
  • Coordinate and supervise external contractors, engineering consultants, vendors, internal maintenance teams, and plant personnel.
  • Develop project scopes, design requirements, specifications, bid packages, and installation plans.
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, equipment specifications, construction documents, and technical proposals.
  • Monitor construction quality, contractor performance, job-site safety, project costs, and schedule adherence.
  • Serve as the primary technical resource during design, construction, equipment installation, commissioning, startup, training, and turnover.
  • Support Production and Maintenance by troubleshooting complex equipment, operational, and process issues.
  • Perform root-cause analysis and recommend equipment, process, and facility improvements.
  • Evaluate technologies and recommend solutions that improve safety, reliability, maintainability, production, and cost efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain engineering, equipment, project execution, safety, and cost-control standards.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, plant safety, and process safety requirements.
  • Manage multiple engineering and construction projects simultaneously.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or a related engineering discipline.
  • At least five years of project engineering and capital project management, construction management, or plant engineering experience.
  • Experience managing construction, equipment installation, or capital improvement projects in a manufacturing or industrial facility.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects within scope, schedule, budget, safety, and production-downtime requirements.
  • Experience coordinating contractors, vendors, maintenance personnel, operations teams, and multidisciplinary engineering resources.
  • Strong knowledge of project design, construction, installation, commissioning, startup, and turnover.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements and general industrial and environmental safety practices.
  • Proficiency with standard computer applications and Google Workspace.
  • CAD or design-drafting experience, preferably using Autodesk products.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in continuous manufacturing, process manufacturing, chemical processing, building materials, heavy industrial operations, or a similar plant environment.
  • Experience working for an industrial manufacturer, engineering consulting firm, EPC organization, or equipment manufacturer.
  • Knowledge of process hazard analysis or process safety management.
  • Experience with structured troubleshooting methods such as Kepner-Tregoe.
Work Environment
