Controller, Finance & Banking, Financial Manager

We are seeking a hands‑on, strategic Controller to lead the accounting and finance function of a growing, private equity–backed business. Reporting directly to Private Equity leadership and partnering closely with the General Manager and executive team, this role will build and scale the company’s financial infrastructure. The Controller will own day‑to‑day accounting operations while also establishing fresh policies, procedures, and reporting frameworks to support rapid, profitable growth and operational excellence.

• Manage all day‑to‑day accounting operations including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, job costing, and month‑end close
• Establish and implement new accounting and finance policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Develop timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages for Private Equity leadership and stakeholders
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management processes
• Partner with operational and project teams to ensure accurate job cost tracking and margin analysis
• Serve as primary liaison with external auditors, tax advisors, and other third‑party consultants
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and all regulatory and tax requirements
• Build scalable processes and systems to support growth and potential future transactions
• Collaborate with the leadership team and General Manager to drive financial visibility and strategic decision‑making
• Mentor and develop accounting staff as the organization grows
• Base salary up to $120,000
• 3 weeks of paid time off
• Hybrid schedule (Once comfortable in the seat)

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred)
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibility
• Prior Controller or Assistant Controller experience, ideally within construction, engineering, or project‑based industries
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
• Experience with job costing, WIP reporting, and percentage‑of‑completion revenue recognition
• Demonstrated ability to build and improve accounting processes and policies
• Experience working with external auditors and managing year‑end audits
• Proficiency with accounting/ERP systems and advanced Excel skills
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to partner across operations and executive leadership
• Experience in private equity–backed or high‑growth environments is a plus
