Work Designation- If you live within 50 miles of the Aflac offices located in Columbus, GA or Columbia, SC, this role may be hybrid
. This means you are expected to work in the office at least 60% of the work week. - If you live more than 50 miles from the offices, this role may be remote
. This means you are expected to work from your home in the continental US, with occasional office visits as requested.
- Perform SOX testing and maintain SOX documentation.
- Analyze and research accounting for new derivatives and limited partnership investments.
- Document and enhance operating and SOX control procedures.
- Perform and review data entry of derivatives and limited partnership transactions.
- Prepare and review analytical data and reports for derivatives and other complex assets (USGAAP, STAT, USTAX) including hedge accounting.
- Prepare and review quarterly and annual disclosures for SEC 10-Q and 10-K.
- Prepare various management reporting reports, including hedge cost matrix.
- Run accounting processes and ensure accurate and timely completion of derivatives and complex assets accounting.
- Interpret, analyze, and implement new FASB and SSAP regulations, collaborating with Accounting Policy team.
- Lead, delegate, and review work of junior team members.
- Identify improvements and provide recommendations impacting management decisions and team performance.
- Assist team with complex investment data analysis, preparing internal and external reports, and presenting conclusions to management.
- Lead or participate in project teams or committees for strategic and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify and resolve reconciliation discrepancies and explain variances.
- Develop and implement accounting procedures in a systems environment, collaborating with Japan teams.
- Establish strong working relationships with business partners.
- Track progress on departmental goals with Accounting leadership.
- Maintain continuous improvement culture, develop KPIs, and drive effectiveness of daily meetings.
- Identify and eliminate manual processes and execute recommended changes.
- Develop and maintain enhanced reporting.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office with VBA/macro experience preferred.
- Knowledge and experience with SAP, BW, Workiva or similar accounting/financial software.
- Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP, FASB, insurance accounting, derivatives, and equity method accounting.
- Experience with SAP or other financial systems, including input/output processing and complex concepts.
- Strong financial analysis, reporting, and process improvement skills.
- Experience in consulting, change management, quality, and project management.
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance or related field.
- Six years of professional experience in investments or related accounting/reporting.
- Experience managing projects or continuous improvement initiatives.
- CFA, CPA, CMA or equivalent training and certification.
- Less than or equal to 10%.
The salary range for this job is $95,000 to $130,000. The range reflects factors such as education, experience, certifications, geographic location, and peer compensation. Salary offers are based on the specific circumstances of each candidate.
