Responsibilities
  • Maintains standards that relate to patient care and technical services performed during the pre-procedural and procedural periods for diagnostic and therapeutic invasive procedures by serving in the roles of monitoring, circulating and scrubbing procedures. The focus of these standards is to assure optimal examinations, interventions and post care while maintaining the highest level of patient safety and comfort possible.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skill to provide care appropriate to age-related needs of the patient and coordinates patient care with team members and other departments.
  • Maintains aseptic/sterile technique during invasive procedures per policy. Anticipates needs and provides procedural supplies and/or equipment to the physician. Proficient in arterial and venous access management.
  • Proficient knowledge in the management of cardiac and emergency medications. Accountable for standards of care related to analgesia and/or moderate sedation. Complies with hospital policy on medication access.
  • Accurately enters procedural documentation and patient charges per department guidelines. Identifies major arrhythmias and hemodynamic events and communicates findings to ensure patient safety. Maintains radiopharmaceutical logs and computer entries as required.
  • Performs routine cleaning and maintenance of equipment per manufacturer recommendations and department policy. Enters work orders promptly. Conducts annual staff education regarding care and operation of equipment as needed.
  • Maintains competency in the use of all department equipment and performance of all department procedures. Keeps knowledge up to date with Joint Commission, OSHA and CMA regulatory guidelines related to invasive cardiac patient care. Participates in quality improvement activities and patient safety initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    Completion of Certified Cardiovascular Program or Completion of Certified Radiological Program
  • Experience:

    1-2 Years Invasive Procedures - Required
  • License & Certification:
    Professional Certification - Required
  • Certifications:

    Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) or Registered Radiologic Technologist (RTR)
  • Basic Life Support - Required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support - Required
  • National certification/registry is maintained. Competency in the use of all department equipment and performance of all department procedures is demonstrated.
