- Support emergency department operations by calling all physician consults, placing patients on Teletracking for appropriate inpatient placement, scanning documents into patient charts, and answering all phone lines within three rings while directing calls appropriately.
- Recognize abnormal cardiac monitor alarms, promptly report them to nursing staff, respond to patient call bells and relay needs to the appropriate staff, request prior medical records from outside facilities, and assist during downtime.
- Place work orders, arrange both in-house and EMS transports, maintain PAR levels of supplies and forms, and maintain an organized work environment.
- Support the director in maintenance of calendar, documents and files, collate data for operational budget and other financials, and maintain office protocols.
- Answer call lights and phones efficiently and professionally, communicate messages to the appropriate person, and keep the work area organized and clean.
- Communicate with internal and external customers in a professional, timely manner, accurately transcribe orders and enter departmental charges on the day of procedures.
- Observe cardiac monitors for abnormal rhythms and rates, report to nursing staff, ensure all patients are placed on a monitor upon arrival to the floor, place rhythm strips on patient charts per guidelines, and identify lethal arrhythmias to initiate appropriate alerts.
- Comply with regulatory guidelines for the work area and professional practice, communicate safety risks to other providers, and facilitate the system/department in obtaining appropriate reimbursement and revenue.
- Monitor departmental inventory, supplies and equipment for needs, waste, or malfunction, maintain a clean work area, and create and maintain patient charts and paperwork from admission to discharge.
- Education:
High School Diploma – Preferred. - Experience:
1–2 Years clerical – Preferred. - License & Certification:
None Required.
