Hybrid 3 days onsite, 2 remote in Aiken, SC.
Our client requires a Payroll & Benefits Accounting Specialist to support accurate payroll processing, benefits administration, and regulatory compliance. The role contributes to reliable financial close, audit readiness, and streamlined payroll operations that support the workforce.
Due to client requirements, applicants must be willing and able to work on a W2 basis. For our W2 consultants, we offer a great benefits package that includes Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits, 401k with company matching, and life insurance.
Rate: $40.00 to $50.00/hr w2.
Responsibilities- Prepare, process, and disburse payroll, payroll taxes, and benefit payments with accurate setup of employee deductions, garnishments, and union dues.
- Reconcile and monitor payroll and benefits accounts monthly and quarterly to support year‑end close, including W‑2 and 1099 reporting.
- Analyze payroll and benefits data to ensure compliance, accuracy, and proper documentation.
- Support internal and external audits and manage insurance policy applications and payments.
- Coordinate with the IRS and Department of Revenue for timely tax registration and payments.
- Forecast and budget payroll and benefit expenses and prepare expenditure reports.
- Support contract reporting requirements for federal agencies.
- Administer employee benefit eligibility, support annual open enrollment, and respond to employee benefit inquiries.
- Implement controls to prevent wage or benefit over payments and improve operational efficiency.
- Review manager‑approved timesheets and validate payroll coding, including pay‑related revisions.
- Process weekly and monthly payrolls and analyze retroactive pay and benefit adjustments.
- Audit payroll control reports, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues.
- Administer garnishments and payroll deductions and ensure timely remittance per legal requirements.
- Maintain compliance with payroll tax laws, garnishment regulations, and documentation standards.
- Prepare and distribute payroll‑related reports and reconcile payroll costs, deductions, and garnishments.
- Provide responsive customer support to employees regarding payroll, deductions, and garnishments.
- Three years of experience with working knowledge in payroll and benefits accounting.
- Five years of experience with a payroll processing system.
- Five years of experience with People Soft HRMS (preferred).
