Role Overview

The Procurement Specialist is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring sophisticated aerospace commodities, major components, assemblies, and service subsystems for Gulfstream aerospace programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Executes purchase orders for parts and services for complex, high‑value components.
  • Administers complex contracts and contract changes.
  • Provides work direction to lower‑level procurement personnel.
  • Participates in cross‑business unit commodity teams.
  • Leads negotiations to achieve cost savings and favorable terms.
  • Interprets program and statement‑of‑work requirements.
  • Partners closely with engineering, operations and program teams.
  • Improves total cost, supplier performance, and supply continuity.
  • Drives sourcing decisions influencing program success.
  • Operates with broader decision‑making authority than a Buyer.
  • Resolves procurement, delivery, receiving and payment issues, and initiates corrective action.
  • Coordinates administration of all contract‑related documentation, reviews, negotiations, and changes.
  • Supports make‑or‑buy reviews and decisions.
  • Maintains close liaison with supporting departments.
  • Ensures compliance with AS9100, ITAR, and other aerospace regulations.
  • Plans, assigns, and reviews the work of Procurement Specialist I and II.
  • Participates on cross‑site commodity teams as required.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field (equivalent education and experience will be considered).
  • Four or more years of procurement, supply chain, or related experience.
  • Master’s degree may offset two years of the experience requirement.
  • Experience managing complex commodities, conducting competitive sourcing events, and negotiating supplier agreements.
  • Demonstrated success developing sourcing strategies, driving cost savings, and improving supplier performance.
  • Ability to interpret program requirements, evaluate make‑versus‑buy decisions, and manage contract changes.
  • Strong business acumen with ability to influence stakeholders and collaborate across Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Program Management teams.
