Street Sweeper Operator

TLA is seeking a dependable Street Sweeper Operator to join our Public Works team. This position operates and maintains street sweeping equipment to keep roadways clear of debris, support stormwater drainage, and maintain the appearance and safety of our community.

• Operate a street sweeper along scheduled routes to remove debris and maintain clear roadways.

• Perform daily equipment inspections, basic preventative maintenance, and accurate recordkeeping.

• Report mechanical issues and maintenance needs to the Fleet Coordinator.

• Help train team members on safe and proper street sweeper operation.

• Assist with vegetation management using equipment such as chainsaws, trimmers, pole saws, blowers, hedgers, and chippers.

• Support other Public Works teams with general maintenance, special projects, and periods of high workload.

• Keep tools, vehicles, and equipment clean, safe, and ready for use.

• Follow safe work practices and assist with emergency operations during severe weather, natural disasters, and other urgent community needs.

• Proficiency in operating specialty equipment. Previous street sweeper experience is preferred.

• A valid driver’s license and the ability to be insured under TLA’s vehicle insurance policy.

• Basic knowledge of vehicle and equipment mechanics, including recognizing wear, leaks, and malfunctions.

• The ability to maneuver large or specialty vehicles safely around residential streets, tight spaces, pedestrians, and traffic.

• Familiarity with stormwater drainage, work zone safety, and proper debris disposal.

• Strong time management skills, dependable attendance, and the ability to complete assignments with minimal supervision.

• A professional, cooperative approach and a commitment to safe, responsible work.

This position involves extended periods of sitting and operating equipment, along with outdoor maintenance work. Duties require occasional standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling, as well as occasional lifting of up to 60 pounds.

Work includes exposure to varying temperatures, noise, dust, fumes, moving equipment, and conditions near water.
