Education and Experience RequirementsBachelor's Degree in Engineering, Safety, Airworthiness or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. 15+ years related experience managing certification activities, leading teams to solve complex issues, and coordinating with regulatory authorities to include 5 years of management/supervisory experience.
Key Responsibilities- Interface with Engineering, Operations Development & Assurance (ODA), and regulatory and investigative authorities to negotiate matters of compliance or potential safety issues while maintaining trust and confidence in Gulfstream.
- In coordination with Engineering and ODA, develop certification planning documentation, compliance checklists and associated compliance documentation for domestic and international airworthiness and operational requirements.
- Provide tactical and strategic guidance in matters related to type certification and continued airworthiness, champion strategies and initiatives to improve and streamline related processes and remove barriers that inhibit successful execution of certification and continued operational safety activities.
- Coordinate with industry and government representatives to address regulatory issues, influence future policy and guidance, and ensure a level playing field for Gulfstream.
- Oversee and facilitate safety management system compliance and advance safety culture within IEF.
- Interface with Gulfstream leadership to provide insights, recommendations and status on issues and initiatives.
- Establish budgetary, resource and organizational requirements for mission execution.
- Succession planning and employee development.
- Knowledge of FAA Part 21/Part 183 regulations/policies/guidance and experience applying them.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, negotiation and presentation skills.
- Familiarity with safety risk management principles.
- Ability to articulate complex issues clearly and concisely.
- Ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to solve problems and make decisions with limited information.
- Ability to build consensus and solutions for complex problems.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
- Management/supervisory experience (5+ years) leading teams in certification activities.
