This is a part‑time position with a maximum of 1,508 hours per year and is not eligible for paid holidays, leave, or benefits.
Job DescriptionThe Evidence Technician is responsible for receiving and storing evidence in the appropriate storage location, following current policies and procedures to ensure proper chain of custody is maintained.
Essential Duties- Receiving, processing, and storing evidence by following current policies and procedures to ensure chain of custody is maintained
- Logging, tracking, and completing paperwork for evidence
- Maintaining files and evidence storage
- Entering information into records management system (RMS)
- Verifying and gathering information through GCIC/NCIC and other systems
- Performing clerical functions such as answering phones, preparing files, and using basic computer skills
- Providing customer service
- Reading maps and applying applicable laws, rules and regulations
- Testifying in court regarding the integrity, preservation, transportation and chain of custody of property and evidence
Job Requirements /Information
- Pre‑employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing
- Public safety background check including motor vehicle & criminal histories, credit check, and fingerprinting
- May require on‑call rotation and emergency after‑hours, weekends, and/or holidays
The grade for this position is 97. Salary will be dependent on education and experience.
Minimum Qualifications- High school diploma or GED
- One year of customer service experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job
- GCIC/NCIC certification within one year of employment
- GCIC/NCIC certification
- Valid driver’s license
