JOB SUMMARY:

The Center Supervisor/Family Health Advocate is responsible for the administration of the daily operation and the management of the Center and Center staff, including all service areas, transportation and center maintenance. To promote family wellness, parental involvement, support of the implementation of the family partnership process in the Coastal Plain Area EOA, Head Start Centers. Operate as liaison between classroom and home settings in the area of education, child development, health, nutrition, and mental health.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES AS CENTER SUPERVISOR
  • 1. Monitor classroom daily and be familiar with the curriculum and assessment.
  • 2. Assure that identified needs for children and families (i.e. emergency situations or family crises) are met.
  • 3. Responsible for monthly health and safety emergency drills. (Fire, tornado, and disaster drills)
  • 4. Check referrals for accuracy and completion.
  • 5. Arrange and assist with field trips when needed.
  • 6. Responsible for maintaining and assuring accurate in-kind match records for Center.
  • 7. Ensure that paperwork and reports are turned-in on a timely manner.
  • 8. Ensure that all classrooms are neat, attractive and inviting at all times. Bulletin Board, interest areas and shelves are labeled with pictures and words.
  • 9. Monitor children lunchtime for family style setting.
  • 10. Monitor and review nutrition services and CACFP reports before submitting to Nutrition Manager.
  • 11. Responsible for ensuring accuracy of sign-in sheets and time sheets for the Center.
  • 12. Assure that building, grounds are clean and free of debris and hazards that may be harmful to children.
  • 13. Responsible for reporting maintenance, supplies, and repairs needed for the center.
  • 14. Responsible for distribution of materials and supplies and safeguarding Center inventory.
  • 15. Participate in the Community Assessment, Self-Assessment and Strategic Planning.
  • 16. Responsible for implementation of integrated child health and development, parent and community partnerships, and program design and management.
  • 17. Responsible for the assigned center operations, staff supervision in accordance with Federal, State and program policies. Report progress toward program objective on a monthly basis.
  • 18. Participate with the program Management Team to plan and coordinate program activities, develop policies and procedures, and determine program structure with approval of Policy Council.
  • 19. Serve as team leader to work closely with program staff, families and volunteer staff.
  • 20. Insure the acquisition, organization, and maintenance of an inventory of developmentally appropriate educational materials and equipment.
  • 21. Supervise the maintenance of the center building and the vehicles used for transportation of program participants.
  • 22. Provide leadership to center staff in creating classroom environments that are stimulating and conductive to learning.
  • 23. Ensure completion of screening, assessments, and referral process according to policies and performance standards.
  • 24. Work with staff and consultants to identify and provide appropriate, timely and integrated services to children with disabilities and special needs.
  • 25. Maintain confidentially of information in all dealings related to program, children, families, and staff.
  • 26. Recruit and enroll new children and maintain a waiting list throughout the year.
  • 27. Ensure and/or conduct activities on-site and in-home to establish positive links between home and school and support parents as primary educators.
  • 28. Participate in providing on-site training, supervision and evaluation of all staff assigned to the center.
  • 29. Pursue professional growth opportunities and support the professional growth and personal development of others.
  • 30. Recruit, train, support and evaluate volunteers in the center.
